The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is a wonderful epistolary novel for all book lovers, not unlike "84 Charring Cross Rd". Juliet Ashton, our heroine, is a novelist living in 1946 London. She writes humorous escapist fiction, but is now experiencing a writters' block. Juliet receives a letter from a guy who found a book that used to be hersand they embark on a correspondance that will lead to a love affair with several people on the British island of Guernsey. She comes across this society on Guernsey Island who used books and the fellowship they found discussing them to help them get through the hideous occupation of their island by the Germans.

This is a warm hearted book filled with stories of bravery against impossible odds. It takes a lighthearted approach to the war, keeping an optimistic outlook through out the novel.
